  • Expand the number of classrooms with pets far beyond our current 5% penetration. 
    • Provides teacher development tools for all students and especially: Title 1 schools with low attendance rates and economically challenged homes. And for special needs students suffering from social anxiety and low self-esteem. 
    • Provides a strong public-private partnership investing in our children’s education.
    • Expands the program to include more partnerships with therapy dog organization for the Dogs in the Classroom program.
    • Continues research efforts to show the benefits of pets on kids with their personal development and academic performance. 
    • Help students establish a life long love of pets. 60% of teachers report students in their class have acquired a pet in their home due to exposure of a classroom pet.
    • A $10,000 donation supports 100 additional classrooms.

    Having a pet in the classroom benefits children in so many ways.  Classroom pets provide opportunities for learning, improve school attendance, help children learn important social skills and decrease anxiety. Caring for pets encourages nurturing and builds self-esteem. A recent SURVEY showed the differences that classroom pets are making: 

    ·       99% of teachers said that having a pet in the classroom has been a positive experience 

    ·        98% of teachers saw an increase in empathy and compassion, thanks to a classroom pet.

    ·        98% of teachers saw an increase in student responsibility.

    ·        98% of teachers saw an increase in student engagement.

    ·        96% of teachers saw an increase in social skills.

    ·        95% of teachers saw some decrease in anxiety among students.

    ·        93% of teachers surveyed saw an improvement in students' self-esteem.

    ·        87% saw a decrease in necessary student disciplinary measures.

    ·        80% of teachers saw an improvement in attendance due to their classroom pet.

    ·        79% of teachers saw an improvement in test/academic performance.
