Having a pet in the classroom benefits children in so many ways. Classroom pets provide opportunities for learning, improve school attendance, help children learn important social skills and decrease anxiety. Caring for pets encourages nurturing and builds self-esteem. A recent SURVEY indicates that a whopping 97 percent of teachers say that having a pet in the classroom is a positive experience, and over 90 percent would be extremely likely to recommend the Pets in the Classroom program. Additionally, 79 percent of teachers use classroom pets every week as part of their curriculum, with nearly 69 percent incorporating their pet into virtual learning.
